Tank High Level Alarm (HLA): Early Warning Before Overflow

MANTRAZ's tank high level alarm is a safety layer that warns before a tank overflows, built to run on cargo tanks, fuel bunkers, fluid reservoirs and any other tank that needs overflow protection. It is a different job from level monitoring: where monitoring shows you where a level stands, a high level alarm exists to warn you before it goes too far.

How the tank high level alarm works

When the fluid level reaches a threshold you set, a sensor sends a signal to a control panel. The control panel processes that signal and raises an alarm according to the logic programmed into it — a direct path from sensor to alarm that does not depend on a dashboard being open somewhere.

Built to run without waiting on the cloud

  • Tailored sensor integration — the sensor is chosen and installed to match the tank and the conditions it sits in.
  • Custom smart logic — the control panel's logic is programmed to match your operation and your standard operating procedure, not a fixed one-size rule.
  • Local processing — the critical alarm is processed locally on the control panel, so the safety function does not depend entirely on cloud connectivity. MANTRAZ still keeps visibility, event history and notification on the platform side.

A protection layer, not a monitoring log

A tank high level alarm is not the same feature as tank level monitoring. Monitoring shows a level and its history; a high level alarm's job is to give an early warning before a high level develops into an overflow or another condition that puts the operation at risk. That difference is why it is treated as a safety system, not a reporting one.

Because of that, a tank high level alarm is often set up on the same tank as tank level monitoring, with each doing a different job: monitoring shows the trend, and the alarm watches the limit.

Who uses it

Technical teams and installers set the threshold, sensor and control logic to match each tank and its SOP. Crews and operators are the ones who act on the alarm on deck or in the engine room. Fleet managers and safety teams rely on the event history and notifications the platform keeps once the alarm has done its local job.

Setting it up on your tanks

A tank high level alarm is set up per tank and per procedure, not from one fixed template. To plan a high level alarm for your cargo tanks, fuel bunkers or reservoirs, contact the team for a demo.
