Engine Monitoring System (EMS): RPM, Running Hours and Engine Health
MANTRAZ's engine monitoring system reads RPM, running hours, engine status and auxiliary engine status from each vessel and turns them into a continuous picture of how the engine is actually being run. It is built for fleet managers and technical teams who want more than a single running-hours total for every engine in the fleet.
What the engine monitoring system tracks
An engine monitoring system needs more than one number to be useful. MANTRAZ tracks:
- engine RPM, read continuously
- running hours, seen alongside how the engine was actually run
- engine running or stop status
- auxiliary engine status
- vessel position (GPS) next to the engine data
- a stored history of all of the above, shown as graphs and reports
From raw readings to an operation profile
Running hours alone say little about how an engine spends its day. With RPM, running status and position recorded together, MANTRAZ can show how long an engine ran, which RPM it worked at most, when it was active or idle, and how that pattern shifts over time. That combination is what forms an operation profile, rather than just a running RPM value at one moment.
Engine health, where the data is there
Where the engine's sensors or controller provide them, MANTRAZ can also bring in engine health parameters: cooling water or jacket water temperature, lube oil temperature and pressure, exhaust temperature, fuel temperature, engine room ambient temperature, battery or charging voltage, and other pressure, temperature or status readings the engine controller makes available.
These readings are read in the context of how the engine is operating, not as a number on their own. Not every engine has these sensors fitted, so what shows up here depends on what the engine already has.
Who uses it
Fleet managers use the operation profile to see how engines across the fleet are actually run, not just how many hours they have logged. Technical teams follow engine health parameters where they are available, alongside RPM and running hours. Office teams use the history and reports when talking with crews about engine use.
Getting it running on your fleet
MANTRAZ's engine monitoring system is fitted to your existing engines and sensors, not sold as one fixed configuration. To see what an engine monitoring system can show for your own fleet, contact the team for a demo.
